As the world’s leading wind energy operator, Iberdrola has been a pioneer in renewable energies for over 20 years. With more than 400 wind farms under operation, Iberdrola’s onshore turbine fleet sums near of 23GW installed capacity and more than 15.000 wind turbines. Iberdrola routinely monitors the health and performance of the complete fleet on a turbine level but wants to step ahead to increase the understanding on how varying wind conditions across the fleet impact on turbine’s production.
Current wind measurement methods in operational farms are costly and time-consuming, especially when testing multiple turbines. Iberdrola seeks efficient wind measurement equipment that can reduce the time & cost of a measurement campaign for a large set of turbines in a wind farm.
If selected, your company will develop a proof of concept with specialized technicians from the Iberdrola Renewables.
Through its startup program, PERSEO Iberdrola is launching this challenge in search of wind measurement equipment that can reduce the time and cost of a measurement campaign for a large set of turbines in a wind farm.
The focus is on flexible and efficiently deployed devices that can optimize a measurement campaign in target turbines. Your solutions should actively fulfill the following requirements:
Traditional sensors (cup or sonic anemometers) as well as state-of-the-art technologies like Lidar.
Measurements should cover wind speed & direction within at least 4 rotor diameters of the turbine.
Solution should be easily deployed in multiple farm locations & reusable for future campaigns at other sites.
It should gather quality data across several turbines to create power curves or correct other wind measurements.
The solution should offer measurement reliability and accuracy.
The solution should lead to reduced investment and/or operational costs.
It should be easy to implement & use and should require minimal training (if needed).
The solution must comply with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
Winning this Challenge will award you with signing a collaboration agreement for the development of a Proof-of-Concept (PoC). The PoC will be developed in collaboration with the technical specialists from Iberdrola Renewables. Additionally, PERSEO covers the costs of the pilot activities and provides you with the necessary technical support, giving access to infrastructure and real data to test your solution.
Sign a collaboration agreement with Iberdrola and/or PERSEO. The project costs are covered & you will get full technical support to test your solution.
If the pilot project succeeds, Iberdrola and/or PERSEO will add your solutions to its service territory and relevant companies within the group.
If the pilot succeeds, Iberdrola and/or PERSEO may offer you the opportunity to scale up your solution by means of commercial agreements.
PERSEO, the risk capital vehicle of Iberdrola, might consider investing in the winner’s solution as well.
